<h1 class="topictitle1">Restoring IoTDB Metadata</h1>
<div id="body0000001585031377"><div class="section" id="admin_guide_000351__section60718452105032"><h4 class="sectiontitle">Scenario</h4><p id="admin_guide_000351__en-us_topic_0046736764_p50247175">To ensure IoTDB metadata security and prevent the IoTDB service from being unavailable due to IoTDB file damage, IoTDB metadata needs to be backed up. In this way, the system can restore data timely when an exception is reported or an operation does not achieve the expected result, minimizing the impact on services.</p>
<p id="admin_guide_000351__p1247810247307">System administrators can create an IoTDB restoration task on <span id="admin_guide_000351__text67509419010">MRS</span> Manager. Only manual restoration tasks are supported.</p>
<div class="notice" id="admin_guide_000351__note164221638123014"><span class="noticetitle"><img src="public_sys-resources/notice_3.0-en-us.png"> </span><div class="noticebody"><ul id="admin_guide_000351__ul124221381305"><li id="admin_guide_000351__li35651622155541">Data restoration can be performed only when the system version is consistent with that during data backup.</li><li id="admin_guide_000351__en-us_topic_0046736773_li35796480">To restore the data when services are normal, manually back up the latest management data first and then restore the data. Otherwise, the IoTDB data that is generated after the data backup and before the data restoration will be lost.</li><li id="admin_guide_000351__li6191124425417">You are advised to restore the metadata of only one component in a restoration task to prevent the stop of a service or instance from affecting the data restoration of other components. If data of multiple components is restored at the same time, data restoration may fail.</li></ul>

<div class="section" id="admin_guide_000351__section128701329135"><h4 class="sectiontitle">Procedure</h4><ol id="admin_guide_000351__ol31006046105032"><li id="admin_guide_000351__li12320634105032"><span>On <span id="admin_guide_000351__text2657124311811">MRS</span> Manager, choose <strong id="admin_guide_000351__b155632651454041">O&amp;M</strong> &gt; <strong id="admin_guide_000351__b15000728654041">Backup and Restoration</strong> &gt; <strong id="admin_guide_000351__b211985791054041">Backup Management</strong>.</span></li><li id="admin_guide_000351__li13361230105032"><span>In the row where the specified backup task is located, choose <strong id="admin_guide_000351__b74141329114315">More</strong> &gt; <strong id="admin_guide_000351__b111481537144311">View History</strong> in the <strong id="admin_guide_000351__b1012411284312">Operation</strong> column to display the historical execution records of the backup task.</span><p><p class="litext" id="admin_guide_000351__a1eed586b104947faab576bb3bc7900f7">In the window that is displayed, select a success record and click <strong id="admin_guide_000351__b5300937492">View</strong> in the <strong id="admin_guide_000351__b153071373918">Backup Path</strong> column to view its backup path information and find the following information:</p>
